Meet the Team

Amy Erwin

Hello!  I have been at Stayton Elementary for over 26 years teaching kindergarten for most of those years.  Over 600 little people have walked through my classroom doors and I can’t wait to meet some more!

I have three children of my own.  My oldest is at OSU  and I have two boys at home. We are a big sports family and when I’m not in the classroom I am cheering on my boys whether it's football, soccer, cross country, basketball, or baseball.  Mr. Erwin and I have been married over 20 years and we also have a boxer named Baxter.

We learn a lot about growing our brains in kindergarten and I can’t wait to see how much we all grow together!

Welcome to kindergarten! We have been waiting for you- and your turn is almost here. This will be my 25th year training brains and disguising learning through play. I’m a very luck person because I love my job! When you come to kindergarten you get to create and craft, make new friends, and learn lots of different things. I love learning new things! This summer I’m excited to learn about chicken coops! After I check out some books from the library, watch some youtube clips, and get some materials, I’m going to try and build a new and improved coop for my feathered friends.

I wonder what you want to learn about?

Looking forward to new adventures with you in the fall and building our kindergarten team!

Margaret Ables

I have been with the North Santiam School District since 1999 and bring to the classroom my own unique abilities, creativity, and past experiences as an educator and mom.

I raised two daughters and now have two sons-in-laws and two grandsons. I attend Jefferson Baptist Church, volunteer with Friends of the Library, enjoy floating the North Santiam river, genealogy, and Pete the Cat.

Every year a group of young learners with different strengths, interests, needs, and cultural backgrounds with a variety of learning styles, readiness, and developmental levels come together to make ‘Team Ables’.  I offer experiences, materials, and interactions that are safe, healthy, interesting, achievable and challenging to kindergarten-age children.

I plan on having lots of fun working with students on reading, writing, math, science and more!

We can do hard things...like go to kindergarten and a brand new school! For 10 years now, I have been singing, dancing, and cheering on all my friends as they try new things, learn new skills, and grow their brains! In our classroom we celebrate our mistakes because they help us learn! Everyone is different, but as the year goes on, we develop close relationships and form a school family. Here’s some things you can find me doing outside of school:

I went to Oregon State and am a HUGE Beaver fan! I love being outdoors, gardening, and reading. Mr. Robbins and I have four kids of our own, plus our dog Roxy and cat Nellie. We spend a lot of time as a family and enjoy going on new adventures! I love purple, Piggie and Elephant books, and making new friends! I can’t wait to meet YOU!!

JuliAnn Olson

Welcome to kindergarten!! I just spent my first year in a kindergarten classroom and absolutely LOVED it, but I have spent many years teaching in the NSSD schools. I have been married to Mr. Olson for over twenty years and we have four children that range from high school down to Kindergarten. Most of my time is spent cheering them on at sporting events, but in my free time I enjoy doing anything outside in the sunshine. I love working in my yard, hiking, going for runs and camping with my family. We love to travel together and explore new places.

Kindergarten is a fun year that brings lots of exciting change. I can’t wait to explore kindergarten with YOU!
